Detra attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in San Francisco.

Life’s journeys led her working in the special event industry for Abbey Party Rents, one of the nation’s largest rental companies. It is there where she learned the foundations of event planning, logistics and schematic layouts. After that 6 year tenure, she was hired by LA Party Rents to spearhead a design division, which grew to service accounts like Disney, Universal Studios and set decorators in the film industry. During the “.com” era she was hired to produce the largest Academy Awards Party for the Hollywood Stock Exchange. The overwhelming success of this event paved the way for her to start her own company producing high profile events for fortune 500 companies, lifestyle brands, celebrities, awards shows and presidential campaigns. Her passion and eye for design also led her into interior design where she was hired by Hornblower Yachts and Cruise to remodel their largest fleet the “Entertainer", promotional vehicles, trade show booth, and pop up spaces.
